Find your keys
In this fun introduction to scent work course, you will learn to teach your dog to find your missing keys. This is a practical and enriching game you can play at home without specialist equiptment.
How quickly you progress through the course depends on your individual dog, but for most this will take 10-14 days. Spending longer on each section will result in a better end result.
Yes! Follow the exact same curriculum but replace your keys with your phone. In fact, you can teach your dog to find absolutely anything with this course!
No, just use a different cue. My own dog is trained to find missing people ( track) Kong ( Kong) keys ( find keys) and can do them all to great ability. In fact each builds different strengths to help with the other. Just as you can teach a sit and a down, you can teach different scents on different cues.
Short sessions are the best, even 2 mins while you boil the kettle! You can teach this with 5 mins to spare per day.
Scentwork ignites your dogs " seeking system" in their brain. This is the antidote to the fear/ stress response. Making it a very useful tool in training and confidence building. It is also great rainy day enrichment. Just a few searches will exhaust your dog and calm them down. Scentwork is proven to release calming hormones. It's a great way to bond with your dog and build engagement outside.
Yes, any dog with a nose can learn scentwork! In the course the dog I am training is blind too!
Yes, the course is very beginner friendly! It is simple and easy to follow, even if you've never done this before.
